About Sandra Anderson

Sandra Anderson Sandra Anderson
I am blessed to live in the South Carolina Low Country where the abundance of nature, landscapes, seascapes, architecture and historic sites produce a never ending supply of subjects and inspiration. I have a special passion for photographing the vanishing culture of the area such as tobacco barns, old houses and examples of by gone days. For centuries this was agricultural, first with indigo, then rice and finally tobacco. Now with the growing population, much of the past is disappearing under strip malls, housing developments or just falling down, so the need to preserve these treasures in photographs is great. I also enjoy nature, landscape, architectural and travel photography.
I am an award winning self taught photographer and shoot digital. With the Mentor Series out of New York City, I have participated in workshops in Glacier National Park, Montana; in Arches and Canyon Lands National Parks in Utah; Savannah, Georgia and in Provence France and have attended local workshops and training programs. Today's photography is an ongoing educational experience.
My work is on display and sale at The Georgetown Art Gallery, 705 Front Street, Georgetown, SC; Harvest Commons, 312 Commerce Lane, Pawleys Island, SC; The Lens Work Gallery, 10744 Ocean Hwy. Pawleys Island, SC; Seacoast Artists Gallery, 3032 Nevers Street, Market Common, Myrtle Beach, SC and the Cuckoos Nest, Pawleys Island, SC. I have shown in the Seacoast Artist Guild Spring and Fall Art Shows, (Winning awards in two) the Art Trail Gallery, Florence, SC; The Rice Museum, Front Street, Georgetown; several libraries, and a number of art shows. I was a selected artist in the Art Fields Festival in 2013 and 2014 and in Carolina's Got Art 2013. I am a member of the Carolinas' Nature Photography Association of Myrtle Beach, the Seacoast Artists Guild, and the Photographic Society of America. My work is also on the CharlestonArtShop.com.
